Athalassa Park

Athalassa Park is situated south of Nicosia and it is surrounded by the suburbs of Aglantzia, Strovolos and Latsia. To get to the paths designated for dogs go through the main entrance (with brown wooden gates and sign with operating hours) on the road from Aglantzia to Geri. Drive straight and turn right on the crossroad where parking lot is on your left (ignore all the "dogs not allowed" signs). After you turn right, drive ahead until you reach another bigger parking lot - the path for dogs starts from there (look on your right, you should be able to see the sings).

In addition to so called 'Dog Park', Athalassa Park designated additional paths for dog walking in the main area of the park. It is however quite confusing to find them since the main entrance on the road from Aglantzia to Geri greets you with the "dogs not allowed" sign. But don't get scared – just drive by until you reach the second parking lot where the dog path starts.

The path is not "round", so you would walk for 25 - 30 minutes until you reach another sign stating that dogs are not allowed passed this sign, turn around and go back. Dogs must be on leash at all times and you have to make sure to clean up after your dog – there are bins for dog waste provided (not too many, so you might need to carry the bag for a little while). Make sure to do that since Forest Department vehicles are patrolling in the area throughout the day.

This path is not for the lazy ones as you will need to go uphill and downhill and there are no benches (except for the one right at the beginning) for you to rest. But it could be perfect for jogging or mountain biking with your dog.

As much as we appreciate the effort of Forest Department, we could not come up with the reason why we would choose to come for a walk with our dog in this area since 'Dog Park' is literally less than a minute away with a car.
